The Believer’s Four Locations on the Battleground of Good vs Evil: #2 On Earth (Guest Testimonies)

Location 1: in The Heavenlies

Location 3: in Time

Location 2: On Earth

On this literal location, the importance of assembling together is akin to two of Sun Tzu’s “location” strategies, both “unite with your allies on local terrain,” and “do not remain on isolated terrain”, but the power behind our “battle kinship” as believers is also the Lord’s within us as unified Body of Christ. Consider these words of warning and instruction:

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. (Proverbs 18:1)

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)

And consider these words of exhortation, and encouragement,

Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another… (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

God has assigned each of us with a task, or ministry, both in and outside of the church, tasks that include preaching, teaching, prophesying, evangelizing, encouraging, healing, and serving in myriad other ways, (see Ephesians 4:11).

We are each needed by the whole as we both variously and together complete the Great Commission “on the ground,” so to speak.

For down here on terra firma (which isn’t always so firma),

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

However, even if we find ourselves physically isolated for a season, not of our own choosing, we are still not alone nor without God’s provision:

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)

Because as Jesus told His disciples while giving them instructions to carry on after He completed His own “mission” on earth (see John 3:16),

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)

Testimonies From Then and Now

  • This reminds me of the testimony of a man who was imprisoned, tortured, drugged, and put in solitary confinement for lengths of time, all because of his faith in Christ. Even in the midst of this degree of evil, when all he could manage to “pray” were bits and pieces of The Lord’s Prayer, it was enough, he said, to strengthen him and remind him he was in God’s presence and therein was encouragement, strength, and hope until his release.

And for one more reminder of God’s presence and provision in any war of good versus evil at home or abroad, alone or en masse, without or “within,” be encouraged and strengthened here:
