The third prophecy tri-fold developed by my sister, and researcher, Claire Gumbs addresses perhaps the most shocking statement Jesus made (as far as His detractors were concerned), a statement that affirmed his status as both Son of God and Son of Man.
Why is this affirmation so important?
That Jesus was to–and did–manifest as both Sons, in the fullness of time is the focal point of the first redemption prophecies chronicled in Genesis 3. The Gospel of Mark cites this revelation thus (New International Version):
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Those present were amazed in very different ways, that is: some, to acknowledge Him as the Messiah, others, to hate Him even more. Why? The proof of His miracle-working power was evident even as the formerly paralyzed man Jesus healed got up and walked. Logic led to one revelation—Jesus was telling them by demonstration that He was The One. But, you see, the skeptics were awaiting an earthly king and ruler, not this fellow from Nazareth. And there was likely also some jealousy afoot.
Tri-fold 3, click: Son of God, Son of Man
This tri-fold features:
- Scriptural evidence of Jesus as the Son of God
- Scriptural evidence of Jesus as the Son of Man
- Scriptural evidence of Jesus as the “Child of Promise”
- Scriptural evidence of Jesus as the “Seed of the Woman”
My favorite feature of my sister’s work in this tri-fold is her presentation of the meanings of the names of each of Jesus’ earthly forebears and how they all manifest in HIM. Here is another testament of the incredible patterns of God’s Word:
Adam: A man of red
Seth: He is appointed
Noah: A man of rest
Shem: His Name is
Honor, Authority, Character
Abraham: A father of nations
Isaac: He will laugh
Jacob: He will seize by the heel
Judah: He will be praised
David: He is beloved
Solomon: A man of peace,
health, and prosperity
Zerubavel: He is a seed
Sown in Babylon
Jesus: He will save
Claire and I encourage the reader to “do your own homework” like the Bereans who were praised for their close study of the Scriptures.
We also encourage you to resist the “normalcy bias” of believing things will always go on as they have always gone on.
If our God knows “the end from the beginning,” the thoughtful student of prophecy will consider that there are “ends” to epochs and eras in the spiritual realm even as such are evidenced in the natural realm.
May God bless and inspire you.
May we also impress upon you that the time may be very short until Jesus returns. If you have not yet received Him as your personal Lord and Savior, the time is right, now, for you. Ask Him into your life and your heart today.
