On A Worldwide “One-By-One Revival” Before Jesus’ Return–Two Prophetic Dreams

Phyllis Beveridge Nissila

DREAM ONE

My sister’s hairdresser shared this dream with her a few days ago.

There was an earthquake, she said, and she came upon many dead bodies laying in a field. As she got closer, however, she realized they were not dead, only sleeping.

One by one, as she touched them, they awoke.

The last one to awaken was a bride…

The hairdresser’s dream reminded me of a somewhat similar one I had about a year ago.

DREAM TWO

In my dream I was riding in a van with several other people on our way to a Church picnic in the countryside. We, too, came around a corner to a view of many bodies laying in a field, but here there was no sign of any cause for what we thought was surely some kind of disaster. And although the people in the field were slumped on the ground as if dead, like the people in the hairdresser’s dream, there was no blood. In my scene, they were all dressed in white robes.

I realized what they needed to revive them was water, as it was very hot outside, but I insisted that I and my fellow passengers first needed to make sure we were adequately hydrated before venturing out to help.

To my surprise, I met with resistance. Some thought the authorities should come to the rescue. But finally, some of us did go–after first drinking some water. The rest of the dream, along with my interpretation, is as follows:

(Carrying) as much water as we could each handle, (as we) drew near the people on the ground, they began to move and moan and reach out for help. Soon, all the people in the white robes were moving and rising and asking for water. We gave what we had…

Then the dream fast-forwarded to the last “scene” in which all of us, bus passengers and, now revived, white-robed people, were enjoying the picnic as we sat and conversed under the shade of several trees.

Then I woke up.

As I thought about the meaning of this dream several things occurred to me that speak, perhaps, to an interpretation that indicates a warning and offers an encouragement for God’s people in the days in which we live.

Spiritually and metaphorically speaking, white-robed people are types of the saints who have been made “righteous” by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. Like the believers in Sardis, they “have not defiled their garments; and,“ (it is Jesus speaking, here), “they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels” (Revelation 3:4-5).

Water, in the Scriptures, is a type of the Word of God by which believers are “cleansed,” “sanctified” (Ephesians 5:26), and sustained as this water “(gushes) up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

In short, believers need the water of the Word of God to sustain them into eternity.

My take on what happened to the “white robed ones” laying in the field as if dead was that they were lacking the “water of the Word of God.” Still redeemed, but suffering for lack of “spiritual hydration”.

There are many churches today offering all kinds of words, sermons, programs, entertainment, positive thinking, and so on, but not all offer the kind of “water” noted in the Scriptures, above, without which, like the redeemed laying in the field, believers suffer in the heat of what comes.

As for those of us “helping” our “thirsty brethren,” if we had not first filled up with water (God’s Word) we, too, might have suffered a similar fate “out there”…

The encouragement?

Like my irritated fellow passengers who thought the “authorities” would take care of the people in the field, many of us might assume the “church authorities” should be doing the rescuing of the saints.

And they should.

But as noted above, not all of them, these days, are offering the Word that saves, cleanses, and satisfies.

It might be you and I to the rescue, God’s Word sustaining all.

BOTH DREAMS

As soon as I heard the hairdresser’s dream, I realized it was a complement to my own, as well as a kind of conclusion to both.

There are still many believers in need of  “reviving” by the water of God’s Word (as in my dream) and by a “touch” of another believer, as in her dream. And in both dreams, it was not one evangelist in a Big Tent Revival, a television preacher reaching millions over the airwaves, or any other “big scene” through which people were being awakened, as in prior days and eras of Church history.

In both of our dreams, revival was one-on-one.

One believer touching and ministering to another.

One hairdresser washing, rinsing, and sharing.

One blogger writing about dreams and interpretations.

Other believers taking what opportunities occur to them in their corner of the field, as it were, in the office, the restaurant, the classroom…

So today, from my opportunity, I offer yet another important encouragement, invitation, and mandate in this age of increasing persecution against Christians and, in many places, where Christians are even having to fellowship “underground,” as it were.

Why?

THE BRIDEGROOM IS ON HIS WAY!

Perhaps the hair dresser’s dream brings us even closer to our “conclusion,” i.e., the close of the Church Age and now the bride (the “Bride of Christ”?) is in the field, too, the last to be revived before the Bridegroom arrives…

And the scene is no longer a pleasant countryside but one in the aftermath of destruction (end times earthquake?) where the need for help, for ministry, is even more critical.

But most significantly, I believe, as a takeaway, is the importance of individual believers offering  a hand–a touch–to others nearby who are in need of revival of one kind or another.

Perhaps in these days when it becomes more and more difficult to look to just one man behind a pulpit for aid, comfort, and direction, we need to look to believers to the left and to the right–and they, to us. Because Jesus is here, too.*

Be encouraged, fellow members of the Body of Christ “in the field”.

Be about your Father’s business, as will I, to the best of my ability.

For, who knows, this might be  the remaining revival, though on a smaller scale, as the world increases in hostility toward believers before the return of Jesus.

But then, what a revival it is! Up close and personal. Free. And 24/7, in every  highway and byway of life and commerce and relationship…

But don’t wait.

And remember to stay “hydrated” in the Word of God.
