This photograph, often referred to as “The Eye of God” [1], brings to mind Psalm 32:8: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” (KJV). It also reminds me of the old hymn, “His Eye is On The Sparrow” [2], a comforting song for him or her beset with sorrow, loneliness, or pain.
In short, I am reminded, once again, that although the “glass” is indeed “dark” between us and full comprehension of God’s ways and timing, we can nevertheless be encouraged that He is at work on our cares, concerns, joys, and triumphs; that here is another opportunity to grow in the depth and breadth of understanding of the God of the universe.
And here is one more opportunity to remember that although we have not seen, yet, the answer to some prayer or petition, He has not removed His “gaze” in our direction.
Not only that He will (continue) to instruct, teach, and counsel us though we might not perceive the ways and means just yet, just now. We might not perceive the answer to our prayers with our literal or figural “eye” today, but His promise is fixed, as is the phenomenon in the photograph in its position in the sky.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (1 John 5: 14-15, ESV).
His eye is on you, today, beloved.

Yes! And it was hard to pick which version of the old hymn to link. They’re all so good.
Blessings,
